Florence Louise Lattu, 80, of Moose Lake, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. She was born October 7, 1930 in Lawler to Lewis and Irene (Weir) Schlee. Florence grew up in Lawler and graduated from McGregor High School. On August 20, 1949, Florence was united in marriage to Bernard LeRoy Skog. The young family settled in Silver Bay and together they raised six children. Florence and Benny remained in Silver Bay until 1977 when they moved to Moose Lake. Benny passed away in 1980. On Octobery 27, 1990, Florence was blessed with another wonderful husband, Einar Lattu. In that union, her family doubled. Together they shared their love of life and family- children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Florence and Einar enjoyed traveling together. They had numerous car trips around the country, driving the back roads to enjoy the scenery. For many years, Florence was active in bowling, Bible Study, Busy Bees Quilting Club and Hope Lutheran Church Choir. She also enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, word scramble and watching the Twins. Florence was dubbed "the cookie grandma" by her young, great grandchildren. They knew she always had homemade baked goodies.
Florence is preceded in death by husbands, Bernard Skog in 1980 and Einar Lattu in 2008; her parents; infant son, Albert; 3 infant grandchildren; 1 infant great grandchild; sister, JoAnn Carlson.
Florence is survived by 6 children, Kirk (Geneva) Skog of Nampa, ID, Leann (Dennis) Hettinger of Hawkins, TX, Terry (Ken) Young of Orono, Cindy (Dan) Nelson of Anacortes, WA, Kim Skog of Moose Lake and Julie (Duane) Robinson of Silver Bay; 15 grandchildren, Derek, Darren, Bryan, Jay, Dana, Ben, Luci, Neil, Launie, Lynzi, Lezlie, Layci, Jason, Guy and Chad; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Louella Skog, Lauretta (Harold) Nelson, Ceri (Larry) Anderson and Carol (Mike) Kerkvliet; brother, David (Margie) Schlee;sister-in-law, Gladys (William) Rusch; Einar's children, Karen (Darrell) Polzin of Bloomington, Brian (Sandra) Lattu of Falcon Heights, Bruce (Katherine) Lattu of Centerville and Steven (Kimberly) Lattu of Chanhassen; Einar's 10 grandchildren, Antonio, José, Justin, Danny, Katie, Kevin, Erik, Stacia, Jenna and Rebecca; Einar's 7 great grandchildren.
We will all miss her unselfish loving heart. She was a true mom and an angel.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 13, from 6 to 8 PM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continued Thursday, April 14, from 10 AM until the 11 AM service in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake.
