Floyd Aubol, 69, Sturgeon Lake, died peacefully at his cabin in Babbit where he truly loved to be.  Floyd was born on January 18, 1956 in Duluth to Ernest and Mavis Aubol.  He grew up in Wrenshall.  Floyd attended Wrenshall High School where he played football and graduated from the Class of 1975.  After high school, Floyd went to Sappi every day for 6 months and asked if they had a job.  They finally hired him, and he began his 40 plus year career at Sappi where he started sweeping floors and retired as a maintenance coordinator.  He had lived in the Carlton area and later moved to Sturgeon Lake after his retirement, but he felt most at peace when he was at his cabin in Babbitt where he enjoyed the outdoors.  He was a handy craftsman and loved taking on a project.  Floyd liked collecting guns, cars, and fishing but always made time for his family and grandchildren.  He had his dog, Haley by his side and enjoyed spoiling her with chicken dinners.  Even in retirement, Floyd enjoyed getting together with co-workers from Sappi and still participated in their Fantasy Football League.

Floyd was preceded in death by his partner: Deborah Barnett; parents: Ernest and Mavis Aubol; brothers: Jeff and Johnny; and an infant son: Justin.

He will be lovingly remembered by his three children: Jenny (Brian) Meline; Ashlee (Gavin) Bialke; and Grant (Kareen) Aubollane; many grandchildren; three siblings: Cindy, Nancy, and Greg; Debby's extended family; and his dog: Haley.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11 am in Blomskog Cemetery, Sturgeon Lake.  Following the graveside service, there will a gathering of family and friends with a luncheon from Noon until 2 pm at the Sturgeon Lake City Hall.
