Frances Marie Kuhlman
Frances Marie Kuhlman, 88, Askov, died peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2015 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born on June 2, 1927 in Blunt, South Dakota to Albert and Frances July. As a child, Fran moved with her family to Bruno where she grew up and attended school. On December 22, 1944, Fran married Ed Jorgensen. Fran and Ed lived in the Bruno area where they farmed and raised their four children: Warren "Gus", Mike, Arnold, and Kitty. Fran was married to her second husband, Al Kuhlman on February 25, 1966 and along with Al's two boys, Barry and Al, Jr., Scott was born to this union. Fran and Al owned and operated several restaurants in the area including the Ponderosa Bar & Lounge in Saginaw, Pagoda Supper Club in Bruno, and the Hilltop Bar & Restaurant in Moose Lake. After Fran retired, she continued to help her daughter at Kitty's Corner Cafe in Sandstone. Fran also enjoyed cooking, sharing recipes, crocheting, embroidery, and visiting with family and friends.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, two sons: Warren "Gus" Jorgensen and Arnold Jorgensen; and a step-son: Albert Kuhlman, Jr.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Mike (Ruthie) Jorgensen of Askov; Kitty (Lloyd) Jorgensen-Riley of Askov; and Scott (Brenda) Kuhlman of Brookston; a step-son: Barry (Shannah) Kuhlman of New Market, MN; daughter-in-law: Linda Jorgensen of Rutledge; two brothers: Joe (Shirley) July of Roseville and Jim (Mildred) July of Sandstone; two sisters: Eva Peneder of Sandstone and Rosemary Taylor of Boulder City, NV; 8 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren; special extended family: Denise Berg of Moose Lake and Jeff Hedin of Askov; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to personally thank Augustana Mercy Health Care Center for their wonderful care of Fran during her stay.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 10 am until the 11 am Memorial Service on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in the Evangelical Free Church, Sandstone. Pastor Rachel Wickstrom will officiate.
