Frank E. Romanoski

Frank E. Romanoski, 82, Moose Lake, died peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center after a short fight with cancer.

Frank was born on September 13, 1930 in Sturgeon Lake Township to Paul and Eva (Magdziarz) Romanoski. He graduated from Willow River High School in 1948. Early in his life, Frank went to Milwaukee and worked for Allis Chalmers for a short time. He later served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After serving his country, Frank worked various construction jobs including working with Jack Mohelsky. On August 20, 1955, Frank married Lois Ronkainen in Duluth. They lived on the family farm in Sturgeon Lake until 1965 when they moved to Moose Lake. Frank and Lois operated the Hamburger Hut in Moose Lake for 10 years in the late 70's and early 80's. Frank also worked as a Road and Bridge Supervisor for the Carlton County Highway Department for 26 years. He was extremely involved in his community and dedicated much of his life donating his time and talents. Frank was a member for over 50 years of Hope Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council and was co-chairman of the Building Committee for the remodel and expansion of the church. Frank was instrumental in the construction of the Athletic Complex on County Road 10 and the Twilight Softball Fields. He was active in the Moose Horn Rod and Gun Club where he held officer positions, taught gun safety and snowmobile certification classes, and also helped secure the first Grants-In-Aid Snowmobile Trail in the area. For 28 years, Frank served on the Mercy Hospital Board with 17 of those years serving as President. Frank was also a member of the Moose Lake Historical Society and helped with the site preparation and construction of the new Historical Society Building. He was a member of Solomon's Lodge No. 286 and was very proud to be a Mason. Frank achieved the degree of Master Mason, had joined the York Rite and Scottish Rite, and served as District Representative for 3 years. He was also a member of the Aad Shrine and the American Legion. Because of the commitment and leadership which they showed to their community, Frank and Lois were once honored as Grand Marshalls of the Moose Lake 4th of July parade.

Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Lois; three children: Tom (Betty) of St. Cloud; Lori (Jay) Schraan of Upland, CA; and Bob "Mouse" of Randolph; his grandson: Clay whom was his pride and joy; a sister: Marilyn Hingst of Waterford, MI; and brother: Leonard (Jean) Romanoski of Colorado Springs, CO.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 5-8 PM with a Masonic Service at 8 PM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continue from 10 am until the 11 AM service on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Burial with Military Honors will be in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Kettle River.
