Obituary

Fredrick "Fritz" Paul Dahms, 68, of Kettle River, formerly of Barnum passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 18, 2016 in Solvay Hospice House, Duluth. He was born December 8, 1947 in Faribault to Frederick and Frieda (Bouvers) Dahms. Fritz was a Marine Sergeant E5 who served in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his service. Fritz was united in marriage to Laura Bruneau on February 22, 2000 in Carlton. Fritz worked at Conoco as a mechanic for 12 years. He then served as a Union Steward and was also a crane operator for Sappi Fine Paper of Cloquet until his retirement in 2011. Fritz loved horses and was the Horse Racing Director at the Carlton County Fair. He enjoyed woodworking, listening to county music, trivia games, card tricks, storytelling and especially spending time with his family.

Fritz is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Haruko; his parents; sister, Leila Duncan and an infant brother, Joseph.

Fritz is survived by his loving wife, Laura Dahms of Kettle River; 3 daughters, Naomi (Duane) Rilea of Barnum, Connie (Jon) Illikainen of Esko and Jenny (Sam) Clark of Cromwell; 2 sons, Dusty (Melody) Schwoch of Barnum and Jake (Rachel) Schwoch of Moose Lake; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Janet (Darrel) Ramberg of Harris, Shirley Hruska of Barnum and Karen (Edward) Wekseth of St. Cloud; many nieces, nephews and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, April 23rd from 1-3 PM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake with Military Honors at 3:00 P.M. provided by Moose Lake American Legion Post #379.
