Gayl Ellis Skelton, 89, of Moose Lake, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake.  She was born March 7, 1927 in Moose Lake to Levi and Elizabeth (Grace) Ellis.  Gayl graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1945.  She then went on to beauty school, attending Wanners Beauty School of Duluth.  Gayl was a member of the Moose Lake Library Book Club as well as a board member.    Gayl was very instrumental in starting the Moose Lake Community Band and was named Moose Lake Jaycees Citizen of the Year in 1995 for her efforts to beautify the Moose Lake Community.  Gayl owned and operated Gayl's Beauty Shop in Moose Lake for many years.  She loved reading and music.  Gayl also enjoyed swimming which she did into her 70's.

Gayl is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lee Ellis.

Gayl is survived by 2 sons, Spencer Skelton of Moose Lake and Mark (Jeanne) Skelton of Moose Lake; daughter, Cindy (Bill) Zellmann of Vergas; grandchildren, Jenny (Doug) Van Meter, Joshua (Kelly) Zellmann, Jeremy (Caitlin) Zellmann, Jordan (Jason) Schrupp, Rachel (Jim) Hurst and Ethan Skelton; great grandchildren, Caleb and Colton Van Meter, Will, Charlie and Jack Zellmann, Levi Zellmann, Jayden and Jaxon Schrupp and Liam Hurst; sister, Bette Piette of Vancouver, WA; sister-in-law, Videlle Howard of Spring Valley, CA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
