Obituary

George Kenneth Horsnell, 93, passed away on October 22, 2026. He was born on December 30, 1932, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Kenneth and Mary Horsnell.

When George was a child, his family moved to Moose Lake, Minnesota, where he spent his early years. His father worked as a railway mail clerk. In 1937, George began working at the Moose Lake-Brooten Railroad post office.

George proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Before entering the military, he attended school in Moose Lake. During his service, he earned the Korean Service Medal and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation.

After returning home, George joined the United States Postal Service and later retired in 1990. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Whenever someone invited him to go hunting or fishing, he was almost always ready to say yes.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mary Horsnell, and his sisters, Lois Sherwood and Nancy Greenwood.

He is survived by his sister, Margaret Horsnell; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; and other loving family members who will remember him fondly.

A private family graveside service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 19, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

Arrangements are being handled by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home.
