Gerald Arlen Johnson, 75, of Sturgeon Lake, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at his home. He was born August 25, 1935 to Fredrick and Kathleen (Stage) Johnson in Windemere Township. Gerald was a Veteran of The United States Navy. He was an avid hunter and a lifetime member of the N.R.A. Gerald loved life and had a great sense of humor.

Gerald is preceded in death by his life partner, Shirley Franzen; his parents; 1 great grandson, Melvin; 1 sister, Joan Skog.

Gerald is survived by 5 children, Dean (Clarene) Johnson of Nashwauk, Dawn (Chuck) Hollingsworth of Caldwell, ID, Derek (Doreen) Johnson of Sturgeon Lake, Dana (Rhonda) Johnson of Hibbing and Deanna (Jeff) Johnson of Chisholm; 20 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bob (Eva) Johnson of Harold, SD and Keith (Marilyn) Johnson of Colorado; 2 sisters, Winifred Newman of Georgia and Maryann (Roger) Reese of Minneapolis; many nieces and nephews.
