Geraldine "Geri" Nielsen, 79, Moose Lake, formerly of Askov, died peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Essentia Health Moose Lake.  She was born on November 18, 1942 in Askov to Axel and Loretta Nielsen.  Geraldine lived most of her life in Askov where she attended school.  She worked in both Duluth and Minneapolis as a nanny early on in life.  She was often called the nicknames  "Nanny" and "Deannie" by her nieces and nephews.  Geraldine returned to her parents home in Askov where she took care of them through the years and utilized her incredible cooking talents.  She had an amazing love for animals, especially cats.  Geraldine spent much of her life feeding all the wild animals that would come to her property and often nursing the sick ones back to health.  After failing health in 2018, Geraldine became a resident at Augustana/Moose Lake Village in Moose Lake where she loved to be involved with the activities that were held.  She enjoyed visiting people, developing friendships, and often discussing topics where she wasn't bashful of sharing her point of view.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents: Axel and Loretta Nielsen and a sister: Marlene Reimer.

She will be lovingly remembered by 2 sisters: Joyce Schatvet of Forest Lake and Ann Marie (Ted) Kosloski of Moose Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am service on Saturday, March 26, 2022 in Barnum Community Church, Barnum.  Lunch will follow in the church social hall.  Spring Burial will be in Vilstad Cemetery, Bruno.
