Gladys Clark

Gladys Clark, 93, Moose Lake, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 in Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park. She was born in Kimball, MN on June 18, 1916 to Christian and Edna Simonsen. Gladys grew up in the Kimball – Kingston area where she attended school. In 1943, Gladys moved to Moose Lake where she was a homemaker through the years. On August 4, 1949, Gladys married Floyd Clark in Minneapolis. They lived in Moose Lake. Gladys helped form the Carlton County Gem and Mineral Club and was instrumental with establishing Agate Days in Moose Lake with her husband, Floyd Clark. She was also a member of the Moose Lake United Methodist Church. Gladys loved agate collecting and was well known for her gemstone pictures.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Clark; brother: Adrian Simonsen; sister: Mavis Lawrence; and a grandson: Andrew Mattson.

Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her three sons: Merle (Sandra) Mattson of Plymouth, Dr. James (Heidi) Mattson of Green Bay, and Kenneth (Kathleen) Clark of New Prague; 7 grandchildren: Laura Sullivan, Steven Mattson, Melinda Hight, Thomas Mattson, Nancy Mattson, Ryan Clark, and Matthew Clark; and 3 great grandchildren: Brandynn Ponder, Allison Mattson, and Megan Mattson.

Visitation was held from 10 am until the 11 AM service Thursday, May 6, 2010 in the Moose Lake United Methodist Church. Reverend Richard E. Edwards was the officiate. Casket Bearers were Ryan Clark, Matthew Clark, Laura Sullivan, Steve Mattson, Melinda Hight, Nancy Mattson, and Keith Lawrence. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Moose Lake.
