Gladys Violet Overland, 90, of Sturgeon Lake, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. Gladys was the last survivor of 13 children in her family. She was born October 28, 1919, in Windemere Township to Jordan and Helga (Swanson) Nelson. Gladys was united in marriage to Harold Overland on September 6, 1947 in Windemere Township. Gladys had an egg route in Cloquet for many years. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Gladys especially enjoyed time with her nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; 4 brothers, Richard, Laurence, Harold and Victor Nelson; 8 sisters, Mabel Anderson, Alice Freeman, Myrtle Mittelstadt, Tillie Scheibe, Edith Danielson, Ruby Erickson, Selma Overland and Marcella Mossberg.

Gladys is survived by brother-in-law, Winston Mossberg of Moose Lake; 2 sisters-in-law, Myrtle Nystrom of Moose Lake and Mary Nelson of Moose Lake; numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews and great great grand nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 9 from 12:30 PM until the 2:00 PM service in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Interment was held in Blomskog Cemetery, Windemere Township.
