Goldie Erickson
Goldie Erickson, 95, Moose Lake, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. She was born on December 29, 1913 in Plum City, WI to John and Christine Sway. Goldie grew up in Bruno where she attended school. She worked as a cook at logging camps on the Gunflint Trail. On January 13, 1940, Goldie married Hjalmer Erickson in Kerrick. Goldie worked at General Andrews Tree Nursery, S & I Cleaners in Moose Lake, and the Moose Lake State Hospital where she worked until her retirement. Goldie loved animals, making rugs on the loom, and picking blueberries.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Christine Sway; husband: Hjalmer in 1988; two granddaughters: Christine Halverson and Carrie Hill; grandson: Lance Hill; and two brothers: Harry Sway and Clarence Sway.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Louise Halverson and Laurene Almquist; her grandchildren: Connie Halverson, Lyle Halverson, Corinne (Todd) Hoadley, Cathy (Colin) Nummela,
Carla (Dan) Claus, Danny (Gen) Hill, and Debbie (Wayne) Scrabeck; great grandchildren: Shelby, Shaelyn, and Hunter Halverson, Tanner Halverson, Robert and Jason Nummela, Ashley Halverson, Rejean Carlson, Jake and Chelsey Hoadley, Kayla Claus, Jacob Hill, Gracie Hill, Samantha Hill, and Matt and Mike Streech; and great great grandchildren: Raelynn, Lance, and Anika Streech.
Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the Noon services on Monday, June 1, 2009 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Pastor Jan Mehlhoff will officiate. Ken Halverson will provide the music. Casket Bearers will be: Lyle Halverson, Jack Halverson, Todd Hoadley, Colin Nummela, Dan Claus, Norman Hill, and Dan Hill. Burial will be held in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
