Gunnard E. Kinnunen, 92, of Kettle River, died Monday, October 29, 2012 in Villa Vista-Cardinal Court, Cromwell. He was born June 17, 1920 in Brainerd to Albin and Elli (Laituri) Kinnunen. Gunnard is an Army Veteran and P.O.W., Serving in the 95th Division during WWII. Gunnard was united in marriage to B. Lorraine Kivi on April 15, 1950 in Scanlon. Gunnard enjoyed building bird houses, gardening and planting trees. Gunnard built his own garage when he was 80 years old.

Gunnard is preceded in death by his wife, B. Lorraine; his parents, 1 sister, Aune Aho; 6 brothers, Wilho, Eli, Aarvo, Reino, Toivo and Benhardt.

Gunnard is survived by 2 daughters, Zara Kinnunen of Taylors Falls and Zoe (Mark Jacques) Kinnunen of Greenfield, MA; 1 brother, Oliver (Patti) Kinnunen of Port Charlotte, FL; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 1, from Noon until the 1 PM service in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
