Heidi L. Hassel

Heidi L. Hassel, 48, Moose Lake, formerly of Wright and Warroad, died peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 12, 1963 in Forest Lake to Leonard and Irene Schmedeke. Heidi grew up in Grygla, MN where she attended high school. She later attended college in Crookston for cosmetology. Heidi worked for Polaris in Roseau where she met her husband, Jeff. On October 1, 1994, Heidi married Jeff in the Evangelical Covenant Church in Roseau. They lived in Roseau until 1996 when they moved to Wright, MN. Heidi worked as a PCA in the area. In 2011, they moved to Moose Lake. Heidi loved her family, sewing, crocheting, horses, and had huge passion for gardening.

Heidi is preceded in death by her Mother: Irene Schmedeke and a sister: Linda Johnson.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jeffrey of Moose Lake; two daughters: Haylea and Emma Hassel both of Moose Lake; her Father: Leonard Schmedeke of Medford, OR; Mother-In-Law and Father-In-Law: Wanda and James Westman of Roseau; Brother-In-Law: Troy Hassel of Stillwater, OK; and Nieces & Nephews: Teddy Johnson and John Johnson both of Wyoming; Danielle Hassel and Chelsea Hassel both of Aberdeen, SD; and Corey Hassel of Stillwater, OK..

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 9:00 AM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Pastor Tim Homstad officiated.

A second Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 2 PM in Roseau Covenant Church, Roseau with Pastor Joe Elick officiating. Honorary Bearers will be Troy Hassel, Corey Hassel, Teddy Johnson, John Johnson, and Bert Korpi.
