Helen "Tuffy" "Grandma Helen" Matuseski, 90, Moose Lake, died peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022 in Moose Lake Village. She was born in Harrold, South Dakota on June 25, 1931 to LeRoy and Edna Petersen. Helen moved to Minnesota with her family at the age of 8. At a young age, she earned the name "Tuffy" by growing up with her brothers and keeping up with the boys at all their activities. On November 25, 1952, Helen married Dave Matuseski in Moose Lake. She worked at Dix Cafe as a carhop and also for the Moose Lake Motel for many years. Throughout the years, Helen worked side by side with her husband whether it was cutting ice or driving gravel truck, they made the perfect team. Helen was very well known for doing daycare over many decades in her home often known to the children as "Grandma's House" and had the name "Grandma Helen" to many people around town. She also had her best friend, Elaine, whom she loved to do many activities with throughout her life. Helen loved golfing, camping, snowmobiling, sunbathing in the hot steamy sunshine, car rides with Jay, hanging out with Bob at the gravel pit to enjoy all his wild animals running around, and her motorcycle rides with Tracy. Her last solo snowmobile ride was at the age of 89 and her last motorcycle ride was on her 90th birthday! Helen loved her family and enjoyed life at the lake on Matuseski Point with them. She will always be remembered for having a full life and being the best matriarch any family could ask for.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave in 2009; 2 sisters: Alvena and Ramona; and 4 brothers: Art, Bud, Spike, and Morrie.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her 9 children: Tracy (Lisa) Matuseski; Bob (Denise) Matuseski; Debra (Walter) White; Toni Forsberg; Jay Matuseski; Lisa (Kevin) Conway; Kelly (Pete) Hassel; Karla Matuseski; and Holly (Josh) Gamst; 15 grandchildren: Nissa, Jenna, Jacob, Tarah, Sheryl, Anthony, Kile, Austin, Kelsey, Brandon, Zach, Jamie, Gabby, Gracie, and Gavin; 8 great grandchildren: Makenzie, Luna, Helix, Priscilla, Leon, Brooklyn, Logan, and Ethan; sister: Maxine Kiminski; special friend: Elaine Gamst; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
