Henry George Mikrot, 88, of Birch Creek Township, died unexpectedly, Friday, August 13, 2010, at his home. He was born April 11, 1922 in Birch Creek Township to Vincent and Magdeline (Bennis) Mikrot. Henry attended Maple Grove School in Birch Creek Township and farmed with his parents through the years. Henry also worked in a shipyard on the west coast for 3 months. Henry was united in marriage to Dorothy Lingle on October 20, 1945 in Sturgeon Lake. Henry continued to farm and custom corn chop in Birch Creek Township throughout his life. He was a member of St. Isidore's Catholic Church of Sturgeon Lake, Knights of Columbus and Polish White Eagles. He was also a former school board member of Willow River School. Henry enjoyed hunting, gardening, and repairing machinery and was always helping his neighbors.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents; sister Pearl Magdziarz; brother, Leo Mikrot.
Henry is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; children, Sharon (Mickey) Fleek of Albert Lea; Louise (Richard) Joseph of Minneapolis; David (Debra) Mikrot of Kettle River, Ann (Ron) Mlaskoch of Willow River and Daniel (Robin Morgenstern) Mikrot of Rutledge; grandchildren, Allison Nogosek, Dawn Fleek, Derek Fleek, Mark Joseph, Nick Joseph, Tony Joseph, Christina Avery, Lori Gscheidmeier, Mike Mikrot, Dusty Mlaskoch and Bobbi Jo Dresel; 17 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Oman; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was on Tuesday, August 17, from 6-8 PM with a Rosary Service at 7 PM in St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Sturgeon Lake and continued on Wednesday, August 18, from 9 AM until the 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at the Church.
