Irene C. Olson, 98, Kettle River, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in Moose Lake Village.  She was born on May 21, 1926 in Bremen Twp., Pine County to Charles and Agnes (Brandle) Youngberg.  She grew up in Bremen Twp. and attended the Ellson School which was on her parent's land.  Irene later attended Willow River High School.  While growing up, Irene helped her parents on the family dairy farm.  On June 3, 1944, Irene married Milton Olson.  They lived in Arthyde where they farmed.  In 1958, they moved to Kettle River where they continued to farm and Irene was a homemaker through the years.  While raising her children, Irene held a variety of jobs including being a home health aide and working at the Kettle River Locker Plant.  She gave haircuts to all the neighborhood kids.  Irene loved gardening, quilting, dancing, bingo, playing cards, and traveling.  Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family.

Irene was preceded in death by husband, Milton; infant daughter: Barbara; grandson: Keith Olson; brothers: Leonard Youngberg, Henry Youngberg, Clarence Youngberg, and Orville Youngberg; sisters: Rose Jones, Gert Novak, and Bernice Lindroff.

She will be lovingly remembered by her ten children: Duane (Sandy) Olson, Darold (Jeanne) Olson, Dwight (Kathy) Olson, Terry (Peggy) Olson; Karen (Wayne) Carlson, Linda Houdek, Gary (MariBeth) Olson, Curtis Olson, Kevin Olson, and Todd (Holly) Olson; 20 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.   Burial will follow the service in Sunnyside Cemetery, Willow River.  Lunch will be served at the Covenant Church Social Hall in Moose Lake following the burial.
