Jack L. Halverson, 77, Moose Lake, died peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, November 26, 2015. He was born to Carl and Aileen Halverson in Split Rock Twp. on November 27, 1937. Raised on a farm, Jack graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1956. A day after graduation he hitchhiked to Silver Bay and landed a job with the section crew of the railroad at Reserve Mining. After a year, Ken Brown of K.M. Brown Feed Co. hired Jack as a truck driver which lasted several years. Jack married Louise Erickson in 1960. After farming turkeys in the early 60's, Jack was hired by Twin Ports Dairy President John Waisanen as a milk tanker driver for the company which later became Associated Milk Producers (AMPI). Member of the Teamsters Local 346 Union, Jack pulled milk tanker in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa for 34 years and had an outstanding driving record of 3.6 million miles without a single accident. After retiring in 1999, Jack drove truck part time for Gabrielson Trucking out of Esko and worked as a substitute school bus driver for Moose Lake Schools. He also safely chauffeured the Vikings Party Bus on several occasions.
Jack was a caretaker for several years for Carl and Skip Hanson until their deaths. In 2002, Jack received "The Governors Act of Kindness Award" from Governor Jesse Ventura and Lieutenant Governor Mae Schunk recognizing Jack with sincere appreciation for dedicated services. Jack enjoyed mowing lawns, caring for his grandchildren, and having coffee with his friends at Art's Cafe. Jack was an avid ML/WR Rebels and Barnum Bombers fan of all sports. He managed the Arrowhead Leader Newspaper and wrote their sports articles for several years.
Coming from a baseball family and an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan since he was 10 years old, Jack played baseball for 24 years in the Minnesota Amateur League in Moose Lake and as a Manager he took his team to the State Tournament in 1968. Jack coached the Moose Lake American Legion Baseball Team in the summers of 2003 and 2004.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Carl & Aileen, daughter: Christine; two infant brothers: Harold and Melvin; sister: Joyce; brother: Terry; and a step-granddaughter: Jessica Brigan.

Jack and Louise raised five children: Connie Halverson (David Turner) of Sacramento, CA; Lyle Halverson of Moose Lake; Corinne (Todd) Hoadley of Moose Lake; Cathleen Halverson of Moose Lake; Carla (Dan) Claus of Tarentum, PA. Jack also raised a step-daughter: Paula (Josh) Brigan-Stadin of Kerrick. Besides his children, Jack is survived by his grandchildren: Robert "Bobby" Nummela (Amanda Piila), Jason "JJ" Nummela (Leanna Beavens), Ashley "Shadow" (Jim) Schmitt, Rejean "Bucky Beaver" Carlson, Shelby "CoCo" Halverson (Trey Skinner), Shaelyn "Digger" Halverson, Hunter "Trapper" Halverson, Tanner "Rowdy" Halverson, and Kayla "Twiggy" Claus; two great granddaughters: Jacquelynn "Punkin" Schmitt and Justyne "TuTu" Schmitt; great-grandson: Jaden "BooBoo" Skinner; step grandsons: Jake Hoadley, Cody Brigan, and Daniel Jurek; step granddaughters: Chelsey Hoadley, GiGi Naftali, Shi Naftali, and Mikelle Naftali; a step-great granddaughter: Kinslie Hauenstein. Jack is also survived by his brothers: Duane (Dorothy) Halverson of Mahtowa, Roger (Marlyn) Halverson of Santa Rose, CA, and Kenneth (Carleen) Halverson of Sturgeon Lake; and sisters: JoAnn Suomala of Hoyt Lakes, Karen (Dick) Miller of Stillwater, and Janice Larson of Moose Lake and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Sunday, November 29, 2015 in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake and continue from Noon until the 1 PM service on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
