March 22, 1946 – May 19, 2018
James T. Brown, 72, Moose Lake, passed away suddenly at home Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was born March 22, 1946 in Moose Lake to Robert and Eileen (Young) Brown.
Jim was a 1964 Barnum High School graduate. He attended Hibbing Community Jr. College for one year prior to enlisting in the US Army serving in Vietnam from 1965-1967. He graduated from Bemidji State University in 1969 with a degree in Sociology.
Jim married Kathleen Swanson in 1970 and they were married 41 years before she died. He married Karen Sanders who also preceded him in death. Then, Jim married Dianne Anderson in 2015 and they lived in Moose Lake.
Jim worked early in his career as a camp counselor for Thistledew and logger. He later moved to Wrenshall where he was a dairy farmer for 15 years. After farming, he worked at MSOP for 10 years. In retirement, he worked for the State of Minnesota rest areas as a maintenance worker. His hobbies included: auctions/ flea markets as a "treasure seeker", gardener, bird watcher, chef, and whittler/carver of Diamond Willow. He was truly a "Jack-of-all-Trades".
Jim is survived by his wife Dianne Anderson; daughters Marcie (Som) Vaiphei, Crys Brown; sons Brad (Amanda) and Wesley (Tresta) Brown; sister Pat (Lee) Anderson; brothers Robert (Nancy) Brown and Doug (Wendy) Fetters; stepchildren Jason (Colleen) Anderson, Matthew (Kelly) Anderson; daughter-in-law Angela (Doug) Wolff; 15 grandchildren and sister-in-law: Carol Leger. He is preceded in death by his parents; wives: Kathleen Swanson and Karen Sanders; son Keegan M. Brown; stepson Ben Anderson.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Journey Christian Church, 1400 Washington Ave., Cloquet. Visitation at 10:00 A.M. at the church. Inurnment will be in Sandy Lake Cemetery, Blackhoof Township later. Arrangements are with Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.
