March 2, 1942 – January 20, 2024
James (Jim) John Magdziarz, of Sturgeon Lake, passed peacefully with his family by his side on January 20, 2024. Jim was born on March 2, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI to Stanley and Pearl (Mikrot) Magdziarz. He grew up in Sturgeon Lake and attended Willow River High School, graduating in 1961.Jim spent his career working as a Union Local 49er, operating scrapers, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment. He helped build many roads throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. Most winters he enjoyed logging firewood, ice fishing, and attending polka dances. Jim could often be found tootling around on his three-wheeler and spending time with family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Pearl Magdziarz; brothers, John and Donald Magdziarz; and granddaughter, Madisen Peterson.
Jim will be missed by his partner, Theresa Anderson of 11 years; children: Troy (Cherie) Magdziarz of Bloomington, and Adrienne (Tony) Peterson of Mora; grandchildren: Alexis Peterson, Shaylie and Kaden Magdziarz.
Jim is survived by four siblings; Mary (Pete) Prolux of Willow River, Patty (Jeff) Hrubes of Nevis, Kathy Magdziarz of Sturgeon Lake, and Sandy Magdziarz-Rainey of St. Louis Park. Along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Mass on Saturday, January 27, 2024 in St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Sturgeon Lake. Inurnment will take place in the Spring.
