James A. Swenson, 81, Mahtowa, died Saturday, March 2, 2024 in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.  He was born in Carlton on July 17, 1942 to Charles and Evelyn Swenson.  Jim was raised in Mahtowa Twp. and attended Barnum High School graduating in 1960. He worked at the Co-op Store in Mahtowa and also logged with Johnny Palmer, Sr. in the winter. Jim farmed through the years in Mahtowa Twp.  He was the 3rd generation to farm on Spring Brook Farm in Mahtowa Twp. which became a Century Old Farm in 1998.  Jim loved going to auction sales and being on his farm.  He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.  One thing that Jim really loved was spending time with Matt and Kellen through the years.  He thought the world of them.
Jim was preceded in death by parents: Charles and Evelyn Swenson.
He is survived by brother: Phillip Swenson of San Francisco and several cousins.
A Gathering of Family and Friends from 10 am until the 11 am Memorial Service on Friday, March 15, 2024 in Salem Lutheran Church, Mahtowa.  Inurnment will be at a later date in Mount Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Mahtowa.
