Janet Marie Kanis Janet Marie Kanis, 69, Cromwell, formerly of Moose Lake, died peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2013 in Villa Vista Cardinal Court Assisted Living, Cromwell. She was born on September 1, 1944 in Windemere Twp., Pine County to Anthony and Margaret Kanis. Janet attended C-School in Windemere Twp. and later attended school in both Kerrick and Moose Lake. Janet lived in Minneapolis for two years and in 1971 moved back to help her parent's farm. In 1988, Janet moved to Moose Lake with her Mother. Janet and her Mother later moved to Cromwell at the Cardinal Court Assisted Living in 2009. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Janet loved to read and be around dogs especially her collie, Princess. She also enjoyed all the activities at Cardinal Court in Cromwell. Janet is preceded in death by her parents: Anthony and Margaret Kanis; and her beloved dog, Princess. She will be lovingly remembered by a sister: Virginia Timmons of Eagan; two brothers: Edwin (Nancy) Kanis of Roseville and James Kanis of Circle Pines; niece: Kelly Johnson; two nephews: Brian (Sandra) Kanis and Michael Kanis; and a grandniece: Angelique Kanis. Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 3, 2014 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Father Eamonn Boland will be the celebrant. Graveside Services will be Tuesday, May 6, at 11 AM in St. Isidore's Catholic Cemetery, Sturgeon Lake. The family would like to personally thank all the staff at Villa Vista Cardinal Court Assisted Living in Cromwell for the special care and compassion that they showed Janet during her time there.
