JEAN BAKER OBIT

Jean Baker, 94, Moose Lake, Mn, formerly of Clinton, Arkansas , died peacefully on Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Mercy Hospital Moose Lake.  She was born on November 26, 1923 in Morris, Illinois to Carroll and Maury Elizabeth Jewett.  Jean grew up in Mazon, Illinois.  She married Elwyn Baker on April 3, 1941.  They moved to Wisconsin in 1958 where they purchased and operated a dairy farm .  Jean and Elwyn continued living in Neillsville, Marshfield, and Depere Wisconsin where Elwyn was a greens superintendent. They later built a retirement home in Deerwood, Mn.  They also wintered for over 45 years in Clinton Arkansas.

Jean was passionate about horses. She loved riding, training and mentoring others about horses and she often participated in horse shows.  Jean was also an accomplished musician.  She gave organ and piano lessons throughout the years and she played as an accompanist in school and community functions. She was also a professional musician playing in bands and supper clubs.

Jean was an avid reader and loved to correspond with family and friends who were very important to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elwyn; son: Corron Baker; granddaughter: Brandi Michelson; sister: Caroline Esgar; and two brothers: Robert Jewett and Irwin Jewett.

Jean will be lovingly remembered by her daughter:  JoAnne(John) Flynn of Sturgeon Lake;  daughter-in-law Priscilla Baker; 6 grandchildren:  Jay Flynn, Kerry Flynn, Kelly White, Craig Baker, Chris Baker, and Scott Baker;  7 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson.

A gathering of family and friends will be held this summer.
