Joan E. Strandlie
Joan Esko Strandlie, 77, Sturgeon Lake, formerly of Duluth, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake.
She was born on May 29, 1939 in Cloquet to Howard and Marion Esko. She grew up in the Scanlon and Jay Cooke Park areas until moving to West Duluth where she attended Denfeld High School, graduating in 1957. On August 23, 1957, Joan married Clair Strandlie in Duluth. Joan worked for Burlington Railroad as an accountant and Northern Construction before starting her own business in 1992, Joan E's Accounting. She extended the business to Moose Lake in 2000 and then moved the complete business to Moose Lake in 2002. In 2012, Joan sold the business and retired to enjoy her lake home. Joan had many hobbies including cooking, travel, painting, hardanger, snowmobiling, and hunting. She was also involved through the years on the Moose Lake/Windemere Sewer District Board, Moose Lake Chamber Board, and the Moose Lake Historical Society.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Clair; two daughters: Paula (Joel) Merrier and Jill (Glenn) Mueller; 6 grandchildren: Cassie, Nicholas (Natalie), Jessica, Peter, and Samantha; brother: Larry Esko; and numerous friends.
A Memorial Service will be at 11 AM Monday, October 10, 2016 in Hope Lutheran Church, 204 Elm Ave., Moose Lake followed by a time of fellowship and lunch in the church hall. To sign the guestbook online, go to www.hhkfuneralhome.com .
