Joann Hrubes

Joann Hrubes, 86, Willow River, died suddenly on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at her home. She was born on December 15, 1929 in Willow River to Joseph H. and Gladys Stepan. Joann attended school in Willow River. On June 14, 1947, Joann married Bob Hrubes in Willow River. Together, Bob and Joann dairy farmed in Birch Creek Township for many years. Joann had an extremely hard work ethic and not only accomplished her farm work but also made hay, gardened, created thousands of wreaths, and waited on tables at Milt's in Willow River and the Flamingo in Rutledge. She was also a homemaker through the years and loved to crochet, bake, and was an excellent cook.

Joann was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; and six siblings: Lucille Guss, Viola Underhill, Roswell "Huck" Stepan, Ivan Stepan, Blanche Tomczak, and Harry Stepan.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two brothers; Richard Stepan of Willow River and Robert (Nancy) Stepan of Brooklyn Park; sisters-in-law: Ruth Hrubes of Sturgeon Lake and Sally Stepan of Willow River; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the 11am service on Friday, August 5, 2016 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Willow River.
