John E. Asleson, 74, Willow River, died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his home. He was born on October 24, 1943 in Finlayson to Clifford and Maude Asleson. At a young age, John moved with his family to St. Paul where he grew up on the West Side and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1962. John worked for Twin City Brick. On January 15, 1966, John married Evon Grinsteinner in St. Paul. John later worked for Bor-Son Construction in Minneapolis and was a member of General Laborers Local 563. In September 1990, they moved to Birch Creek Twp. where he hobby farmed beef cattle. He also loved deer hunting, driving his jeep and 4-wheeler, fishing, watching his Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre, and watching boxing, especially Muhammad Ali.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Maude Asleson; sister: Cathy Asleson; and step-brother: Ed Seekon.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Evon; two children: Brenda (Doug) Bednar of Willow River and Mark (Kim) Asleson of Cloquet; and seven grandchildren: Sami, Jessi, Matt, Beth, Melanie, Kaylee, and Madison.
Visitation will be from 9:30 until the 10:30 am service on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Faith Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Lake. Burial will be at 1 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Lakeview Cemetery, Rutledge.
