John Fanning, 28 of Moose Lake, MN, passed away on July 7th, 2018 due to an accidental drowning on Sturgeon Lake. His remains were returned to family July 9th, 2018. John was born on June 4th, 1990 in St. Paul, MN to Rhoda L. Fitzsimmons and Bromley J. Fanning.

John was a 2008 graduate of Barnum High School but currently resides in Moose Lake, MN. John enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, tinkering with vehicles, eating, helping others, and spending time with his friends and family.

John was a remarkable man whose warmth radiated into those around him and put a smile on the face of all those he encountered. John was our family's gentle giant and would do anything for even just a stranger if that meant brightening their day. John was loved by many and would appreciate the support, love, and efforts extended to his friends and family from the surrounding communities.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents: Thomas and Pat Fanning and John and Joy Wagner.

John will be terribly missed by his mother and step-father, Rhoda and Chris Fitzsimmons of Barnum, MN; father and step-mother Bromley and Doreen Fanning of Kettle River, MN; his sisters April (Matt) Forse of Brooklyn Park, and Brittany Fanning of Duluth; his brother Lee (Andrea) Fanning of Sturgeon Lake; his nieces Summer, Cadence, Scarlett and Addison; nephew Colton and his soulmate, Alyssa Harju, Moose Lake.

Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 19th, 2018 at 2 PM at Doc's Pavilion in Sturgeon Lake, MN. Memorials are preferred.
