John C. Harwell

John C. Harwell, 68, Kettle River, went Home to the Lord on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at his home. John was born on November 30, 1940 in St. Paul to Leslie and Violet Harwell. He grew up in St. Paul.

John was in the United States Army and stationed at West Point, New York where he worked at the hospital. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa and great grandpa and was overjoyed when family would come and visit. He loved to spoil his many grandchildren and great grandchildren with homemade gifts. John loved life and his church family. He was a devoted follower of Christ. John also loved to fish and the Minnesota Vikings.

John will be greeted in Heaven by his son: Darren; 2 grandsons: 2 brothers: Vernon and Leslie "Red";
and 2 sisters: Ethel "Sis" Schouveller and JoAnn Tetzlaff.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lorna; daughter: Denine Arana; 3 brothers: Donald, George, and Richard; 2 sisters: Jean Grube and Gloria LaFavor; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 1:00 PM in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Kettle River with Pastor Paul Reiff officiating. Music was provided by Helen Holm and Cathy Wold. Casket Bearers were Debra Hatfield, Jeff Hatfield, Cory Card, Dylan Anderson, Kenneth LaFavor, and Paul Wold. Military Honors was provided by the Moose Lake American Legion. Cremation will follow the service with private inurnment to be held at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
