John Jack
Kolodge
January 19, 1937 – December 26, 2019
John "Jack" Kolodge, 82, Kettle River, died suddenly on Thursday, December 26, 2019 after coming in the house from spending some time in his glory clearing out the yard with his skid steer. He was born on January 19, 1937 in Cloquet to George and Anna Kolodge. Jack grew up in Kettle River and graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1956. He drove truck for the Metso Brothers and later joined the United States Army where he served for "2 years, 2 months, and 10 days". Jack later worked for Duluth Avionics. On May 11, 1963, Jack married Patricia Jurek in Split Rock Twp. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. In 1969, they moved to the Kolodge Homestead where they currently live today. Jack enjoyed hobby farming through the years, raising beef cattle and making hay with mostly John Deere equipment, a habit which he may have developed from his father. He also worked for various sheet metal contractors for 30 years, retiring from Jamar Company in 1995. Jack loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, farm, and visit the hunting shack. He was a very proud member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where he served as a Trustee and Cemetery Sexton. He was also a member of the Star Club, Kettle River Snowmobile Club, and Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna Kolodge and 6 siblings: Leonard Kolodge, Florence Mushinski, Edward Kolodge, Frank Kolodge, Joe Kolodge, and Elizabeth Kolodge.
Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Patricia; 2 sisters: Barbara Dobosenski of Carlton and Patricia (Philip) Jurek of Kettle River; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 9 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 4, 2020 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Spring Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Split Rock Twp. Memorials are preferred to your favorite charity in Jack's memory. Arrangements by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.
