John Henry Korhonen, 77, of Kettle River, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. He was born January 8, 1939 in Moose Lake to Edward and Ellen (Konu) Korhonen. John was united in marriage to Virginia "Ginny" Horrisberger on June 25, 1966 in St. Paul. John lived his entire life in Kettle River. He drove dump truck up the North Shore and also drove grain truck cross country in his younger years before working at Roos Motors, where he was a mechanic for 35 years until retiring in 2000.
John is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Emma Silampa; sister-in-law, Iva Korhonen; brother-in-law, Bud Vrana.
John is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ginny Korhonen; daughter, April (Rob) VanGuilder; son, Mark Korhonen; grandchildren, Wyatt, Hailey, Tana and A.J.; brother, Daniel (Shirley Carroll) Korhonen; sister, Mae Vrana; daughter-in-law: Kaysie Korhonen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Butch and Cooky Horrisberger; many nieces, nephews and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, February 5, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Service in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Kettle River.
