John T. LaFrenz, 83, of Moose Lake, died Monday, September 26, 2011 in Menomonie, WI. He was born November 14, 1927 in Bruno to Claus and Johanna (Kruger) LaFrenz. John grew up in Bruno, Denham and Moose Lake and attended class in the Country School. John was united in marriage to Hilda "Tillie" Westerberg on September 24, 1949 in Windemere Township. John was a farmer most of his life until selling his farm in February of 2003. Throughout his life, John worked for HC Hanson Poultry Farm, Conwed, Don Bean Homes, Four Seasons Recreation, DNR Forestry and DNR General Andrews Nursery until retiring in January of 1995. He also owned his own small engine shop. John was a member of the Cattleman's Association and Evangelical Covenant Church, Moose Lake.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Tillie; his parents; daughter, Shirley Springer; grandson, Dale Westerberg; granddaughter, Jee Hye Oh (Tanya Piilola); great grandson, Jayden Frenz Foris; brother, Walter LaFrenz; sisters, Lavina Basche and Etta Simm.
John will be lovingly remembered by his children, Walter (Shirley) Westerberg of Barnum, Rosalinda (Gary) Lingle of Moose Lake, Clayton LaFrenz of Indiana, Dianne (Dennis) Piilola of Moose Lake and Lori (Joe) Broker of Colfax, WI; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brother, Darvin (Erma) LaFrenz of Braham; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 1, from Noon until the 1 PM service in Evangelical Covenant Church of Moose Lake. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
