Obituary

John "Jack" C. Mattson, 61, of Barnum, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. He was born April 10, 1948 in Moose Lake to Ernest and Elizabeth (Kankaala) Mattson. Jack was an Army Veteran, serving in Germany from 1967-1969. Jack enjoyed 4-wheeling, plowing snow, yard work, listening to gospel and old country music, church and especially spending time with family and friends. Jack was a member of 7th Day Adventist Church of Moose Lake.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Delores.

Jack is survived by his life partner of 26 years, Judy Harju of Barnum; step sons, Lance (Candy) Harju of Moose Lake, Lee (Kris) Harju of Sturgeon Lake, Lyle (Lavita) Harju of Wyandotte, OK and Mike (Robin) Harju of Duluth; step daughter, Michelle (John) Graham of Cambridge; 7 step grandchildren, Shauna, Stephie, Nikki, Clint, Alyssa, Brandon and Peyton; brother, James (Elaine) Mattson of Osakis.

Visitation was held Friday, June 5, from 6-8 P.M. in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continued on Saturday, June 6, from 2 PM until the 3 PM Service in Barnum Community United Methodist Church, Barnum with Pastor Hal Kamppi officiating. Military Honors were provided by Moose Lake American Legion Post #379.
