Josephine A. Metso

Josephine A. Metso, 83, Moose Lake, died Monday, June 24, 2013. She was born on February 26, 1930 to Frank and Elizabeth Pasek. Josephine grew up in Kettle River where she attended school through the 8th grade. She later graduated from Moose Lake High School. Josephine worked for a short time in Duluth and returned to Kettle River upon her Mother's death to help her family. She later worked at REA Power in Kettle River.

On June 13, 1953, Josephine married Harold A. Metso in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Split Rock Twp. She farmed with Harold in Automba Twp. and also was a homemaker through the years. Josephine was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where she served as Trustee and was a member of the Rosary Society. She also served on the Barnum School Board for two terms, on the Star Club Ladies Guild for many years, and was Treasurer for Automba Twp. for over 50 years. Josephine will be forever known as a very devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Harold in 2001; two sons: Michael and Ronald both in 2012; two brothers: Leonard Pasek and Clemence Pasek; and her sister: Lorraine Sobczak.

Josephine will be lovingly remembered by her two grandchildren: Eric (Lacie) Metso of Monticello and Danielle Metso of Perth, Australia; two great grandchildren: Kendall and Owen Metso; daughter-in-law: Wendy Metso of Maple Grove; sister: Barbara Pasek-Brown of Palo Alto, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 29, 2013 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. At Josie's request, the casket will be closed. Lunch will follow Mass with a procession to St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Split Rock Twp. at 1:30 PM.
