Josie Ann Shank

Josie Ann Shank, 85, Barnum, formerly of Kerrick, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at her home. She was born on March 1, 1929 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Joe and Ina Holubar. Josie grew up on the family farm in Iowa. She was united in marriage with Marvin L. Shank on August 13, 1950 in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Mary Jane and Floyd Mayer . In 1963, Josie and Marvin moved from Iowa to Kerrick where they farmed through the years. After Marvin's death in 1980, Josie moved to Barnum. Josie was a very dedicated worker for 43 years at Mercy Hospital in the Housekeeping Department retiring in 2009. She loved growing flowers and gardening.

Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; two sons: Marvin D. Shank and Edward Shank; and a sister: Doris Wilkening.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Jerry Shank of Barnum; Dan (EttaRae) Shank of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Chris (Dale) Storebo of Bruno; 17 Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren; 5 Great Great Grandchildren; her siblings: Gene (Doris) Holubar; Dale (Louise) Holubar; twin brother Joe (DeLoris) Holubar; Mary Mayer; all of Marshalltown, Iowa; Betty Fouts of State Center, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
