Joy Krogstad, 66, Askov, died unexpectedly on Friday, August 9, 2019 at her home. She was born on December 24, 1952 in Rush City to William and Rosemary Schmidt. Joy grew up in Kroschel where she attended grade school. She later attended Hinckley High where she graduated. Joy attended St. Cloud State and also worked at Tobies. On April 20, 1985, Joy married Russell Krogstad in Kroshel. They lived in Askov and Joy worked at the Federal Prison in Sandstone and Dave's Oil in Willow River as a cook. She loved crocheting, reading, cooking, ice fishing, and truly enjoyed her grandchildren.
Joy is preceded in death by her parents, William and Rosemary Schmidt and a sister-in-law: Arlene Jo Schmidt.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 34 years, Russell; two children: Roland (Sara) Palmer of St. Mary's, GA and Heather (Steven) Hodges of Dixon, MO; six grandchildren: Skye, Roland, Sylvie, Evan, Nolan, and Vivian; three siblings: Brad Schmidt of Kroschel, Bruce (Roxanne) Schmidt of Denham; and Jane (Kevin Nordby) Schmidt of Mora; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 10 am until the 11 am Memorial Service on Thursday, August 15, 2019 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Bruno. Pastor Nathan Anderson will officiate.
