Joyce A. (Pelletier) Peterson
Joyce A. (Pelletier) Peterson, 74, Sturgeon Lake, formerly of Midway Twp., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 31, 2016.
She was born on May 2, 1942 in Duluth to Emil and Ingrid Pelletier. Joyce grew up in the Munger/Proctor area graduating from Proctor High School in 1960. Joyce attended UMD and received her Bachelor Degree and later attained her Masters at UWS. On August 10, 1963, Joyce married David in Proctor. They lived in Proctor for a few years prior to living in Midway Twp. Joyce worked as a 3rd grade teacher in Hermantown and later worked for the Proctor School District until retiring in 2003. Joyce and David moved to Sturgeon Lake in 2002. Joyce was very devoted to her family and her church. She attended the Evangelical Covenant Church in Moose Lake and was on the Sonshine Closet Board and volunteered for Sonshine Food Pantry. Joyce was also a member of the Moose Lake Historical Society. She mastered many talents including cooking, baking, writing, and creating various handcrafts. Joyce loved bird watching, trying new recipes, reading, especially historical novels, and exploring new places. She was an extremely organized person who was very giving and helpful to others.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents: Emil and Ingrid Pelletier and a sister: Janice Lindemood.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, David; two daughters: Sue (Jeff Orr) Peterson of Chicago and Shelly Vrambout of Stillwater; an honorary daughter: Maureen Kelly of Chicago; three grandchildren: Clarice, Eleanor, and Louis; two brothers: Gerald (Carol) Pelletier of Sturgeon Lake and Gene (Cindy) Pelletier of Esko; brother-in-law: Kenneth Lindemood of Esko; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from Noon until the 1 PM service on Saturday, June 4, 2016 in the Evangelical Covenant Church, Moose Lake. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake. Memorials are preferred to "Up on the Hill" Moose Lake Covenant Building Fund.
