Joyce Schatvet, 94, Forest Lake, died Monday, March 23, 2026 in Birchwood Senior Living, Forest Lake.  She was born on September 20, 1931 in Superior, WI to Loretta Harris and was the oldest of four children.  While Joyce was young, Loretta met Axel Nielsen whom she married and he became Joyce's Dad.  They lived in Askov where Joyce graduated from Askov High School in 1949.  On September 20, 1949, Joyce married Harold Schatvet in Askov.  They farmed in Askov for a short time and later moved to North Minneapolis, Bloomington, and later Forest Lake.  They owned and operated Suburban Insulation for many years and Joyce helped with the phones.  She loved to garden, do housework, clean, and go polka dancing.  Joyce always took care of others and waited on them making sure they were well taken care of. She will be remembered for being an awesome cook and her roast beef dinners, beef stew, bread making, and her cinnamon rolls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son: Thomas Schatvet; daughter: Leah Faltisek; two sisters: Marlene Reimer and Geraldine Nielsen; and her parents: Axel and Loretta Nielsen.

Joyce will be lovingly remembered by 3 children: Barb (Bernie) Carey; Bruce Schatvet; and David Schatvet; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; sister: Ann Marie (Ted) Kosloski; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from Noon until the 1 pm service on Saturday, April 18, 2026 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.  Lunch will follow the service.  Inurnment will follow the lunch in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Askov.
