Juanita J. (Peterson) Larsen

Juanita J. (Peterson) Larsen, 93, Cromwell, formerly of Moose Lake, died peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Villa Vista, Cromwell. She was born on December 6, 1916 in Pocahontas, Iowa to Oscar and Stella Wilson. Juanita graduated from Willow River High School. On July 10, 1937, Juanita married Edmund Peterson in Moose Lake. They lived in Duluth until 1944 when they moved to Moose Lake. Juanita worked as a Psychiatric Aide at the Moose Lake State Hospital from 1954 until 1956 and later worked as a cook at the Moose Lake Public School from 1957 until 1968. She was very active as a Cub Scout Leader and also in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Juanita married Leo Larsen on October 28, 1983. She also was involved with Autumn Voices and enjoyed singing at events throughout the community. Juanita continued to live in Moose Lake until 2007 when she moved to Villa Vista in Cromwell. She truly loved animals, music, collecting antiques, and spending time with her family.


She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edmund Peterson; second husband: Leo Larsen;
son: E. Harland Peterson; two brothers: Donald Wilson and Oliver Wilson; and her parents: Oscar and Stella Wilson.

Juanita will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Diane (Ted) Shusta of Duluth; her son:
C. Michael (Julie) Peterson of Moose Lake; daughter-in-law: Marian Peterson of Marine on St. Croix;
eight grandchildren: Catherine; Christine; Timothy; Denise; Paul, Sandra, Lindsay, and Nicholas;
11 great grandchildren; and her special niece: Jenifer.

Visitation was held from 5-7 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continued on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 9:30 AM until the 10:30 AM service in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
