Obituary

Judy Marie Wall Horvat, 81, Moose Lake, went to her eternal reward on July 1st, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

There to meet her were her husband: (George Little Horvat), her mother and dad: (Jeri and Ray Wall), her sons: (Kevin George and William Raymond Horvat), her daughters: (Sharon Irene and Cynthia Ann Horvat), her grandparents: (Opal Irene and William Rufus Bean, and Pinkney Leroy and Emma Hulda Wall), brother: (Louis Joseph Horvat), and many other loving family members and friends. If you asked Judy what her most beloved (and sometimes funny) memories were in her long life, they would involve what she considered her greatest treasures here on earth: children Theresa and Gerald Carr, Kevin Horvat and Linnea Ritter, Michael and Deanna Horvat, Christine and Steven Wipson, William Horvat, Michelle Horvat, Anne and Nathaniel Welte, and Stephen and Elizabeth Horvat. She would also name her precious grandchildren: Julia Carr, Clare and Ryan Brummond, John and Jenny Carr, Dominic Carr, Susan and Emilio Castaneda, Bryan and Thao Horvat, Daniel and Tram Horvat, Blake Horvat, Sydney Wipson, Grace Wipson, Emily Welte and Alexander Welte; her great-grandchildren Paxton and Havah Brummond, Elaine (Ellie) and John Thomas (JT) Carr, Octavio Castanedo, Liam, and Lukas Horvat: and her brothers and sisters Michael and Judith Wall, Kathleen and Paul Bonn, and John and Rhonda Wall.

Last but definitely not least, her church family, her life group family, her Sunday School family, her Sonshine Family, and her adopted children throughout the United States and Haiti.

She truly believed that her family members and her loving friends were her greatest blessings.

Our Mom wrote the first part of this obituary, and true to who she was her entire life, it is all about everyone else and not about her. We asked her permission to share what inspired US about our Mom's life, and while there are not enough words to express it all, here is just a part.

First and foremost, Mom LOVED people deeply. As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend she poured her whole heart into loving people, and it was impossible not to feel it.

Mom would say that being a mother was her most important job and we would add that almost every other job that she had throughout her life was to benefit her children, and once we were grown, to help others.

Mom was a maid, waitress, school nurse, lunch lady, and Texas-certified EMT. She taught Christian Education, led worship for Saturday evening mass, did both music and clown ministry, and worked with T.E.C. She worked in both the Federal and State Prison systems as a secretary, was a psychometrist, and traveled the country teaching Critical Incident Stress classes for police, fire, and ambulance departments. After "retirement" she went on to teach ALPHA both in prison ministry and at MLC church. She volunteered at Sonshine Closet for many years and served on the Sonshine Board and the compassion committee until 1 week before her death. She loved her Tuesday night life group and her Sunday morning bible study where she dug into God's Word.  She was an end-of-life caregiver to many, a sucker for the passenger seat on a motorcycle (but spent a little time in TX at the handlebars of a little yellow Sportster), and a frequent flyer at any Humane Society. She never passed a Veteran, active military serviceperson, or police officer without shaking their hand and thanking them for their service to our country.

And finally, she was a follower of Jesus, an amazing encourager, and a prayer warrior. She will be missed daily until we see her again.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11:00 am in Moose Lake Covenant Church.  There will be a visitation from 9 am until the 11 am service at the church.  Lunch will follow the service.
