Kane Benjamin Nelson
Kane Benjamin Nelson, 45, Moose Lake, formerly of Askov, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2013 at his home in Moose Lake, Minnesota.
He was born on January 15, 1968, in Sandstone, Minnesota. Kane grew up in Askov. He was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and graduated from Askov High in 1986. He joined the Army that summer, spending most of his two years in Germany. Kane was discharged honorably in 1988 and was later activated in 1991 for Desert Storm. He worked as a registered nursing assistant, trained medication aide, lead counselor at Pine County Group Home, and job coach at DAC, before going to work at the MSOP for the last 17 years.
Hobbies for Kane included photography, art, and restoring old things. He also liked collecting tools and reading.
Kane is survived by his parents, Ken and Myrna Nelson of Askov, brother Marc Nelson of Minneapolis, twin brother Kelly Nelson, niece Sydney Nelson, nephew Dayne Nelson, all of Askov, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Graveside services will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery on September 28, for family and friends, at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be served following interment at the Askov Community Center.
