Karen D. Larson, 82, Cloquet, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at her home. She was born on January 8, 1942 in Denham to Charles and Beatrice Rundquist. Karen grew up in Denham and attended Willow River High School graduating in 1959. On June 25, 1960, Karen married Laverne Larson in Faith Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Lake. They moved to Cloquet. Karen was a homemaker through the years while raising her sons. She also waitressed at Big Lake Golf Course and later worked at Weyerhaeuser in Cloquet. Karen also worked at Potlatch and retired after 21 years. She loved camping, cooking, fishing, the Quilting Club at Bethel Lutheran Church, and being a 4-H Leader. She was well known for the potato salad she would make for different gatherings! Karen and Vern vacationed all over the US and Canada and enjoyed wintering in Texas for 18 years with many friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Craig; parents: Charles and Beatrice Rundquist; and two sisters: Jo Lounsbury and Nancy Timonen.
Karen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Laverne; three sons: Tim Larson, Mark (Nikki) Larson, and Joel (Kim) Larson; 13 grandchildren: Troy, Jeff, Cody, Kara, Cole, Nick, Samantha, Ty, Chelsea, Derek, Elizabeth, Erin, and Jake; 17 great grandchildren: Landon, Lily, Aria, Rena, Morgan, Autumn, Freya, Lucy, Axton, Inara, Spencer, Wade, Jemma, Octavia, Mustafa, Brayden, and Bennett; sister: Marjorie Dobosenski; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 10 am until the 11 am Memorial Service on Friday, November 8, 2024 in Nelson Funeral Care, 1004 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet. Lunch will follow the service. Private inurnment will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Birch Creek Twp., Pine County.
