Katherine J. (Skoczen) Fredrickson, 99 1/2, of Moose Lake, MN, experienced her Heavenly Homecoming on Sunday afternoon, April 27th, 2025, while resting in her room at Moose Lake Village. She was born at home in Kettle River, MN, also on a Sunday which was her favorite day, October 4th, 1925 to John & Annie (Kobus) Skoczen. She was their first born and only daughter. Katherine spent her entire childhood and teenage years on the family farm in Split Rock Township, attending a one room schoolhouse there. She was a 1944 graduate of Moose Lake High School, singing in the high school choir and participating in the glee club. Following graduation, Katherine took a bus to Chicago IL. Living with cousins there during WWII, she was employed by Continental Can Company.

After only fifteen months, she returned and began working at Diamond Match in Cloquet, MN. Katherine met Gust Fredrickson while dancing and they married in Duluth, MN on October 18th, 1958. They first lived in Cloquet, raising their 4 children. Then in 1966, moved to the farm where she was raised and built a home there. While her children were small and still at home, Katherine sold the Stanley Home Products line of cleaning products through in-home demonstrations. Later and for 19 years, Katherine was the head cook and baker for Kettle River and Moose Lake Schools, beginning in 1972. She was a property manager for Lakeshore Manor Apartments in Moose Lake on her own after Gus' passing, for 15 years, beginning in 1993. Her volunteer work included sorting, pricing & stocking donations at Sonshine Closet, driving friends to appointments, and regularly washing & setting an elderly neighbor's hair. Katherine enjoyed passing her time with Embroidery, Gardening, Reading, Socializing, Singing with Autumn Voices & loved to Dance, most notably the Polish-style Polka! Loving an adventure, she had traveled to 17 states, going 20 years in a row to Washington DC.

However, Katherine's family and her faith were the two most precious things to her heart. Katherine was faithful in attendance, giving, and Bible Studies at the Polish National Catholic Church, Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Moose Lake Covenant Church where she was actively involved in Covenant Women and the oldest living member. She also participated in and enjoyed the community outreach of Young at Hearts Ministry. She will be remembered as being Faith-filled, a Prayer Warrior, Loyal, Resilient, a Servant & very Sweet. A Keeper of the Flame, Katherine actively maintained traditions, ensuring they continue to be passed down. As we let her go, we will follow in her footsteps with Love for God and Devotion to Family.

Going before Katherine were her parents, John & Annie, her husband of 35 years, Gust and her 4 younger brothers, Mike, Tom, Joe & George. Katherine will be greatly missed by so many, but especially by; Her 4 grown children, her world: David Gresczyk, MD, Carole (Mike) Koch, White Bear Lake, Loriann (Todd) Olson, Moose Lake & Lynn Kay (Brian) Brink, Champlin. Her 10 grandchildren, who she could never get enough time with: Jason, Gabriel, Jordan, Jillian, Hart, Cameron, Holden, Katylin, Brianna & Mariah. Her face lit up whenever she saw her 21 great-grandchildren! And very dear to her heart were: 14 nieces & nephews, Peggy & Dean Rosera, loyal-like-family, and many valued friends.

Our love for her will know no end!! ~ With heartfelt thanks & gratitude, the family would like to express our sincerest appreciation for the thoughtfulness expressed to us and for the love we have been given during our time of loss. We are encouraged and blessed to know that our loved one is in the great care & company of Jesus.
