Kay Lepisto

Kay Lepisto VanRossen, 90, of Benedictine in Duluth, passed away on April 16, 2026. She was born on September 21, 1935 to Arnold and Thora Hultman in Eveleth, Minnesota. Kay spent most of her life in West Duluth, where she was involved in the community, raised her family and made many lifelong friends. She enjoyed family gatherings, especially at her lake place near Gordon, Wisconsin. She served as a loving caregiver to many throughout her life, including her grandchildren. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling. Above all, she wanted people to know she loved her family deeply. Kay shared her life with Gary Lepisto, Andrew VanRossen, and Patrick Schoen, all who proceeded her in death. Kay is survived by her sister: Judy Barteck; children: Candice (Gil) Gamst, Gary(Mary Jo) Lepisto, Tom( Leslie) Lepisto, and Dan(Jill) Lepisto; grandchildren: Chris (Missy) Gamst, Blaine (Afton) Gamst, Drew (Anna) Gamst, Jody (Jacob) Dobosenski, Amanda (Jeremy) Carlson, David (Sara) Lepisto, Janelle (Alec Davis) Lepisto, Taryn (Robert) Boddiford, Matthew (Emily) Lepisto, Phillip (Andrea) Lepisto, Samantha (William) Cummings, and Kendall Lepisto; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; niece: Kim (Ron) VonBrethorst; nephew: Troy Barteck; daughter-in-law: Chris Pasek; as well as relatives and friends she held close to her heart.
Kay was proceeded in death by her son: Jon Lepisto; great grandson: Kaleb Dobosenski; and brother-in-law: Ron Barteck.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 2-4 pm at United Lutheran Church, 701 Third Avenue, Proctor. We hope you will join us to visit, share memories, and enjoy some of Kay's favorite foods. Kay will be buried with her son, Jon, at Oneota Cemetery on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 10:00 am. All are welcome.
A heartfelt thank you to her caregivers for the compassion and dignity shown to Kay during her last years of life. It's such an important role and the family deeply appreciates all of you.
