Lance "Snorty"
Horton
November 9, 1976 – November 23, 2018
Lance Allon Horton, 42, Willow River, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 23, 2018 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake, after spending the day with his friends making venison sausage. Whether you knew him as Lance, Snorty, Hormel, Hereford or a few other names that can't be shared publicly, they all had one thing in common; they belonged to a great man whom was generous, loveable, likeable and was always there for a friend at a time of need. Lance was born on November 9, 1976 in Ely to Mike and Roberta (Shelton) Horton. At the age of 2, he moved to Willow River where he grew up and attended school. Lance began working in the underground utility industry at the age of 17. He worked for several companies in the area and was currently employed at Hanco Utilities. On August 9, 2014, he married Gina Wirgau in Willow River. He loved hunting big game, fishing, singing karaoke, and socializing with his friends. Lance was an extremely proud Papa and enjoyed spoiling every child that came in his path. He also had a great love for his dogs, Hunter whom passed away, and Faith. Lance's generosity of giving continued after his death as he gave the gift of organ donation to help those in need.
He was preceded in death by his mom, Roberta "Bert" Horton in 2008.
Lance will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gina; daughter: Dominique (Sam Westman) Horton of Superior and her children: Forest and Logan; son: Jason Sundin of Willow River; daughter: Samantha Sundin of Willow River; dad: Mike Horton of Willow River; sister: Stacey (Jason Bongers) Horton of Sandstone; paternal grandma: Bette Horton of Sturgeon Lake; maternal grandma: Jeanette Shelton of Moose Lake; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Harry and Tammy Wirgau of Mora; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
