Laurence "Larry" Oraskovich, 73, of Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 9, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Larry was born on March 1, 1951, in Duluth, Minnesota, to George and Edna Oraskovich. Proud of his Finnish heritage, Larry embraced the values of hard work, perseverance, and grit, which guided him throughout his life. These qualities were embodied in his deep connection to SISU, the Finnish concept of extraordinary determination and resilience in the face of adversity. Throughout his cancer journey, Larry often referred to SISU, inspiring his family to draw strength from this spirit during difficult times.

For over 40 years, Larry's passion for agriculture and rural life defined his career. As a farm manager and tax consultant, he worked tirelessly to support farmers, becoming a trusted ally and advocate for the agricultural community he loved. His dedication extended beyond his work, as Larry's talent for genealogy brought his family's rich history to life. His research connected relatives across the globe and culminated in works preserved at the Esko Historical Society in Northern Minnesota, ensuring his legacy endures for future generations.

At the heart of Larry's life was his extraordinary bond with his wife, Donna. Their love story spanned 52 remarkable years, marked by unwavering devotion and mutual support through life's tribulations and triumphs. Together, they created a bond of love and resilience that was a beacon for all who knew them. Donna's steadfast care and unyielding strength were a source of comfort and encouragement for Larry, particularly during his battle with cancer. Their shared commitment to family and each other was evident in the beautiful retirement home they built in Sturgeon Lake—a place filled with love, peace, and cherished memories.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Donna, and their three children: Travis Oraskovich (JoAnna), Brent Oraskovich (Clara), and Shawna Molloy (Daniel). He was a proud and loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren—Dylan, Sydney, Kaitlyn, Noah, Marilyn, Ella, Aiden, Hunter, Alissa, Eli, Cody, and Liam—and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Damien.

He is also survived by his siblings: sister Barb Hammit (Ronnie), David Oraskovich (Gwen), Kenny Oraskovich (Bonnie), and sister-in-laws Char Oraskovich and Cindi Oraskovich. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Oraskovich, and his brothers, Jim and Vern.

Larry's legacy is one of love, perseverance, and an indomitable spirit. His wisdom, kindness, and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. As his family moves forward, they carry both Larry's SISU spirit and the extraordinary love and resilience he and Donna shared, a shining example of strength and unity.
