Lee passed away suddenly March 1 st , 2023. He is survived by his wife Patti, brother Wayne (Polly) and sister Sydna. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Jessica as well as a brother, Gary.
Lee was born in Hartsville, South Carolina and he and his family lived in many states as he was growing up but he always called Charlotte, North Carolina "home".
Lee was a USAF veteran, retiring after 30 years of service as a Major. He had 5 deployments to the Middle East in his role with the 167th Medical Air Evacuation squadron out of Martinsburg. West Virginia in support of operations Southern Watch, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Enduring Freedom. In his civilian life his last position was a budget analyst with the FAA in Washington DC. He retired from the FAA in 2017 and moved with his wife Patti to Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota to be near his brother and sister.
Prior to moving to Minnesota, Lee and Patti lived in Manassas, Virginia where he was very active in the American Legion post there, the Robert V. McMaugh Memorial American Legion Post 10. Lee was a member of the Legionnaires as well as the Sons of the American Legion and the Legion Riders. He was the post Commander for two terms as well. He participated in numerous activities supporting veterans and families in need in the Manassas area.
Lee loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed working on the property that he and Patti purchased in Sturgeon Lake and learned many new skills. He loved golf and his most recent obsession was learning how to become a excellent pit master. His family and friends were the benefactors of the wonderful creations that would come out of his smoker.
The immediate family will hold a private service to memorialize Lee. In lieu of flowers, donations to Tunnels to Towers Donate to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) or to your favorite veterans organization. For those wishing to celebrate Lee's life, prepare a couple fingers of Tullamore Dew, play "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum, "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and a bagpipe version of "Amazing Grace" and toast the life of a wonderful man.
