Lester Hjalmer Ullstrom, 70, of Sturgeon Lake, died Thursday, January 12, 2012 in Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. He was born May 31, 1941 in Baudette to Andrew and Ellen (Olson) Ullstrom. Lester was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Leona Christensen on February 18, 1978 in Las Vegas, NV. Lester was employed at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis for 20 years. Lester enjoyed hunting, fishing, old western books and movies and sitting at the camp fire with his family and friends.

Lester is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leona; brother, Lawrence; 3 sisters, Betty, Grace and Beverly.

Lester is survived by his sister, Viola (Charles) Gaumitz of Woodbury; stepchildren, Armas Ristamaki of Rush City, Teresa Gilliver of Minneapolis, Judy Wright of Sturgeon Lake and Sue Andreason of North Branch; several nieces, nephews and many special friends.
