Obituary

Linda May Langhorst, age 64, resident of Moose Lake, Minnesota passed away from cancer on Thursday, April 11 th , 2019 with her family by her side. She was born on February 6 th , 1955 in Baudette, Minnesota to Ervin and Therese (Anderlie) Schraut.

Linda grew up in Hibbing, Minnesota where she was a 1974 graduate of Hibbing High School. On September 20 th , 1974, she married Alvin A. Langhorst, Jr. in Fort Benton, Montana. Linda served honorably in the United States Army from November of 1974 through May of 1981. Her career with the Army as a Clerk Typist took her from Colorado to Germany and then back to North Carolina. Linda obtained the rank of Sergeant, serving her last duty station with the 18 th Airborne Corps.

Linda and Alvin moved to Moose Lake in 1992 where they settled down. Linda worked at Augustana Mercy Health Care Center for 25 years, first as a nursing assistant and later as a nurse. She also inspired her children to go into the nursing profession.

Aside from being a master cross stitcher and quilter, Linda enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandsons, and traveling with her mother. She loved animals, especially her cats. Linda was a proud member of the Moose Lake American Legion Post #379 and the NRA. She will be remembered for her honesty, sense of humor, kindness, and compassion.

Linda is preceded in death by her father, Ervin Schraut.

She will be forever missed by her husband of 45 years, SFC Alvin A. Langhorst, Jr. (Ret); son, Adam (Jess) Langhorst; daughter, Rachel (Addam) Chupurdia; her grandsons, Ray and Tristan; her mother, Therese Schraut; brothers, Gary Schraut and Greg (Sheryl) Schraut; sisters, Gail (Claude) Carter and Pat (Jim) Miller; her friends at Augustana Mercy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service to honor Linda's life will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, April 19 th , 2019 at Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home in Moose Lake with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be performed by Moose Lake American Legion Post #379.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to the Cancer Research Institute in her name.
