Obituary

Lorraine Betty Tomczak, 84, Kettle River, died peacefully on Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake.  She was born on January 23, 1937 at the Salvation Army Home Hospital in St. Paul, MN to Frances Olivia Eastman (Father unknown). Not long after her birth, Lorraine was placed in foster care in the Sturgeon Lake/Denham area and was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Fenstermaker of the Town of Bremen, where she lived and grew up with the name of Vivian Fenstermaker.  Lorraine attended Willow River High School and graduated in 1955.  On August 28, 1959, Lorraine attended a dance at the Split Rock Star Club in Kettle River and met her life partner, Gregory Tomczak.  They were married on January 28, 1961 in Willow River at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  They lived in Cloquet and Cromwell before moving to Automba in 1966.  Lorraine ran Chef's Cafe in Moose Lake in the 1970's.  She also operated a wreath business since 1952 which the family will continue to operate in her honor.  Lorraine loved crafts, crocheting, and knitting.  Lorraine was a people's person and had an amazing amount of love to give everyone she encountered.  She loved to make and donate afghans to local fundraisers and volunteered through the years.  Lorraine was also a very proud Bigfoot supporter and even made national TV on Finding Bigfoot telling her story of her encounter.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; and two daughters: Mary "Edith" Bruner and Beverly Tomczak.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years, Gregory; their three children: Barbara, Mike, and Edward (Brenda his wife) Tomczak; and three grandchildren: Peter, Adelaide, and Gregory.
