Obituary

Lorraine Vierkandt

Lorraine Vierkandt, neat-nick, avid gardener, ardent pet lover, and dedicated super-Mom passed away in her Arthyde home Monday, January 27th, 2014 after a yearlong battle with illness. She joins her husband, Gus, her parents, Erma and Homer, brother's Bob and Dick, grandson's Karel and Dominic, and son-in-law Roger in heavenly peace. She was fiercely independent since the ripe old age of ten when she earned enough money delivering newspapers to buy her own bike, still riding one up until last July. She adored her children, Debbie, Marcia, Becky, Bruce, Wendy and Brian, her 15 grandchildren, and virtual scads of great grandchildren. Mom tended to an asparagus patch the size of some peoples houses and many lucky neighbors got to share in the spoils of her gardening labors. She loved flowers, peacocks, cats and dogs, dancing, and Elvis. She made the best chocolate roll on the planet, played a wicked hand of Nutsie, and mowed more grass and shoveled more snow than anybody we've ever met. Even into her eighties. She is survived by her beloved brothers Fran and Bill and a couple pairs of Canadian honkers that return to raise their broods in her back yard every spring.

When the snow has melted and the grass is green we will lay her remains to rest with Dad's at a graveside service at the Morancey family plot in Hugo, MN.

In lieu of flowers or donations go buy a bag of birdseed and feed some wild birds. We can guarantee you she is feeding cardinals in paradise.
